Volunteers
Local volunteers enabling access to the sea
We are all volunteers, who are passionate about going to sea and sharing that wonderful experience with those who live with disability or have limited mobility.
We need help with all aspects of running the charity, eg: Boat Crew, including Skippers; Promotional Events; Fund Raising; ICT; Boat Maintenance. Administration and much, much more. If you think you can help, then please get in touch.
Spare time and the ability to work as part of a team. Two or three times a month, during our sailing season, Crew get the chance to sail, 2 or 3 trips a day, mostly on weekdays. Occasionally, there may be the opportunity to crew at the weekend when Freedom has offered to assist other marine organisations.
You contact us and we will arrange for you to meet one of the Skippers or the Membership Secretary. They will answer all your questions, show you the boat and explain the training program, which is run by the Skippers. If you are a fun-loving person and happy to commit, you will be warmly welcomed by all ‘Friends of MV Freedom’.
In January the Boat is lifted out of the water at Portland for annual maintenance. Crew, Skippers and other Friends of MV Freedom work to ready her for the forthcoming season. It is difficult to guesstimate the number of hours that this dedicated team gives, freely, to the charity and any help is always appreciated.
